Anything Goes -Theoretical Design, UNCSA Fall 2021

Anything Goes is a high energy, whimsical musical full of madcap antics, mischief, and pranks on board an ocean liner bound from New York to London in the 1930s.

My design from the period features a variety of popular summer styles in both men’s and women’s attire. The color palettes are inspired by historical catalog illustrations, incorporating bright and whimsical colors to help set the characters apart from the vast and open blue sky on deck of the steamer ship.  The upper-class passengers wear bold and saturated daywear which transitions to more classic looks in their evening wear. The inclusion of muted tones and neutrals for the men and side characters provides good contrast to the traditional white sailor uniforms of the captain of the ship and his crew.
